US Army Veteran turned Beauty Professional

Today we’d like to introduce you to TaMara Craig.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

Face-Up Skin Care Salon, LLC is an independent skincare studio established in 2019. Once my term ended in US States Army 2004, I moved to Georgia. I have always had an affinity for all things beauty so became a Licensed Esthetician in 2006. I always worked a traditional job but I just was not happy. So I decided to enroll in college and received my bachelor’s degree & master’s degree but still was not fulfilled. In July of 2021, I received my Esthetician instructor licensed and I was also let go of my job due to poor performance and that was the best thing that ever happened to me. I run my business full time with the support of my husband & family and I couldn’t be more fulfilled. My passion for skin comes from a place deep down inside where I feel in my gut that I can help build someone’s self confidence by treating their skin. I know this is my calling.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Closing the gap on the importance of basic & proper skincare has been the challenge. I find that many people just do not know what to do for their skin, know their skin type, using incorrect products for their skin type. Basic skincare is necessary.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

As an Esthetician Instructor, I specialize in skincare for the health of it. Which means we treat skin from a professional perspective by addressing habits along with educating clients about their particular skin type by performing customized treatments based on lifestyle.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Perseverance is the key. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint at heart. Once you set your mind out to do something strive for it by any means necessary. Do it scared!

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

To me, the word success means to be fulfilled, spiritually healthy with a happy and healthy family.

What’s next for you?

In 2018, I stepped out on faith and began my entrepreneurship journey and I began taking clients out of my home. In 2019, Face-Up Skincare was opened and my signature skincare line was developed. I am also pleased to announced that we just opened our 2nd location for Spa Parties and Advanced Esthetic Classes in Riverdale, GA this past November of 2022. I may just open up a Esthetician school next.
