Move over, meditation—Michelle Cardinal says there’s a faster path to emotional clarity: your voice.
Cardinal, founder of Sing With Chelley, is leading a vocal revolution rooted in one radical idea: that singing—raw, unscripted, imperfect—can unlock deep emotional release and self-healing.
“When people sing freely, they move stuck emotion. They return to themselves.”
It’s a philosophy informed by pain. A survivor of childhood sexual abuse and years of repression, Cardinal didn’t find healing in therapy or silence. She found it in song.
Voice as Medicine
Her clients often arrive saying, “I can’t sing” or “I’ve always been told to shut up.” That’s exactly the point, she explains.
“The voice has been shamed out of people. But we don’t silence birds because they sing off-key. We celebrate their expression.”
From that foundation, Michelle built her business—part coaching practice, part healing modality, all rooted in authenticity.
“This work is not about sounding good. It’s about feeling free.”
In a defining moment, she led 35 yoga practitioners in group song during a retreat in Greece.
“Tears. Chills. Unity. That’s when I realized: this isn’t niche. This is universal.”
From Breakdown to Breakthrough
Her path hasn’t been smooth.
“I faced homelessness, disbelief, and internal doubt,” she says. “But I always came back to the same truth: this is bigger than me.”
Faith carried her through. So did resilience—and a few deep breaths, sung aloud.
Today, Cardinal blends singing with coaching, live events, and spiritual practice. Her upcoming book, Being Too Much, offers journal prompts and vocal invitations designed to help readers liberate their inner voice—on their own terms.
Sound Healing’s Entrepreneurial Future
Cardinal’s impact goes beyond wellness trends. She’s tapping into a human truth that’s rarely discussed in business circles: emotion is currency. And sound? Sound is one of our oldest technologies.
“Singing gives you access to parts of yourself that logic can’t reach,” she says. “That’s the business I’m in—the business of remembering who you are.”
