Five years into building Topshelf Celebrations, Annabelle Zierhut is increasingly interested in what a bar can become.
The answer, judging by the company’s work, can take many forms. An interactive drink wall. A champagne tower. A dramatic dry ice feature. An entrance display that gives arriving guests an immediate sense that the evening has been considered down to the smallest detail.
Then there are the cocktails themselves, where garnishes, textures, real ingredients and visual presentation are approached with a culinary eye.
It is a long way from the familiar image of a mobile bartender setting up a portable bar in the corner of an event.
That evolution has become an important part of the Topshelf Celebrations story.
From Bar Service to Experiential Hospitality
Based in Southwest Florida, Topshelf Celebrations has now serviced more than 300 events and can accommodate as many as three events in a single evening.
Its work spans private homes, corporate holiday gatherings, leadership retreats, broker opens, fundraisers and other celebrations throughout the region.
Zierhut, who leads the company’s creative vision, has gradually developed the brand around a broader definition of hospitality. Elevated bartending is still fundamental, but the experience extends into design and entertainment.
Interactive drink walls, champagne towers, entrance displays and immersive bar features are created as statement pieces rather than functional additions alone. Their purpose is to catch the eye, invite participation and become part of how the event looks and feels.
Developing Culinary Cocktail Couture
The same evolution is happening inside the glass.
Zierhut uses the term “Culinary Cocktail Couture” to describe Topshelf Celebrations’ philosophy toward cocktail creation.
The concept combines real ingredients with culinary techniques, distinctive garnishes, textures and unexpected presentation details. Instead of viewing a cocktail as a standalone beverage, the team considers how it contributes to the broader experience.
“Our goal is to create elevated, tasteful cocktails using real ingredients tied to unique experiences that will carry memories and spark conversations long after the event is over,” Zierhut says.
That might happen because of the way a drink is presented or because an ingredient catches someone by surprise. The point is to give the guest a reason to engage rather than simply consume.
Building a Team Around the Vision
As the company’s ideas have grown more ambitious, the team behind them has become increasingly important.
Patrick Flynn and Nicholas Zierhut serve as fabricators, helping build the physical installations required for the company’s experiential concepts. Samantha Monteverde is the cocktail curator, bringing the beverage side of the experience to life. Alexander Zimmer oversees operations, while Zierhut directs the creative vision.
Each role addresses a different part of the same challenge: how to make a sophisticated experience feel natural once guests arrive.
That becomes more complicated when multiple events are happening in a single evening. The company’s ability to service as many as three reflects the operational side of its growth, something guests may never see but inevitably experience when it works well.
What Five Years Have Revealed
More than 300 events have also given the team a useful perspective on what people remember.
Sometimes it is the spectacle of a champagne tower. Sometimes it is a drink presentation no one expected. At other events, the memorable element may simply be how naturally everything seemed to fit together.
For Topshelf Celebrations, that has become the larger lesson of its first five years. Luxury does not have to mean adding more for the sake of it. The details have to serve the experience.
Zierhut’s vision for the company now brings hospitality, design, culinary creativity and entertainment into the same conversation. Topshelf may arrive with bartenders and cocktails, but the intention is larger than bar service.
It is about creating the moment people notice when they enter the room, and the one they are still talking about after they leave.
