Sandi Kanury’s career had many of the ingredients people associate with a successful life. She had moved across the world at 17, competed on a tennis scholarship, and built a career that eventually placed her in senior leadership at a large technology company.
What she did not have was the feeling she thought those accomplishments would create.
Behind the professional trajectory, Kanury was struggling with depression and a persistent sense of unhappiness. The disconnect was difficult enough on its own. The confusion of people around her made it harder. If life was going well, why didn’t she feel good?
Eventually, Kanury stopped treating that question as something achievement would solve.
The decision would reshape her life and lead to Happiness Re-Engineered™, the proprietary framework she now teaches through keynote speaking, signature events, and high performance coaching.
A Different Kind of Reinvention
Kanury’s story did not begin with plans to become a coach or speaker. It began with the need to understand her own experience.
A relationship that was not working brought existing struggles into sharper focus. Rather than continue searching for another external change, Kanury began examining what was happening internally.
She came to believe that happiness could be developed rather than endlessly pursued.
That realization opened a much longer process.
For the next 12 years, Kanury committed herself to deliberate personal transformation. There were setbacks and breakthroughs, periods of progress and days when the work felt difficult. She kept going.
Gradually, she discovered that her emotional state did not have to rise and fall entirely with circumstances. She could develop greater influence over how she responded to pressure, disappointment, relationships, and uncertainty.
The insight eventually became the foundation of Happiness Re-Engineered™.
Beyond Feeling Good
The name may suggest a narrow focus on happiness, but Kanury’s framework addresses a wider question: What is happening internally when people feel confident, present, fulfilled, or capable under pressure?
For Kanury, these qualities share a common foundation.
“Happiness is not an accident. It is an architecture,” she says. “For twelve years, I learned how to build mine from the inside out, and now I help high achievers build theirs, so they can stop pursuing happiness and start standing on it.”
Her language reflects her background in high performance environments. Happiness, in this view, is something that can be approached deliberately. The goal is not permanent positivity. It is developing an internal foundation that remains more stable when circumstances change.
That perspective has particular relevance for executives, entrepreneurs, and other high achievers whose professional lives routinely reward external performance.
The Leadership Question Beneath the Work
Kanury’s own years in corporate leadership gave her a close view of how people operate when expectations are high.
Performance under pressure is often discussed through strategy, preparation, or skill. Kanury’s work adds another consideration: the internal state of the person making the decision.
Confidence that depends entirely on approval can disappear in a difficult room. Fulfillment attached exclusively to achievement can fade as soon as the next target appears. Presence becomes difficult when the mind is constantly negotiating with what might happen next.
Happiness Re-Engineered™ addresses those patterns at their source, according to Kanury, by helping people reconsider the internal architecture shaping how they experience their lives.
Her work has drawn recognition within speaking and coaching circles, including praise from marketing figure Paul Getter. A client and executive leader has described Kanury’s energy as “off the charts,” while pointing to her ability to build belief and inspire action.
Turning Personal Work Into Public Work
Kanury is now taking the framework into a broader chapter. Based in Chicago, she works with audiences globally through speaking, signature events, and high performance coaching. She is also developing a book based on Happiness Re-Engineered™ and pursuing opportunities on TEDx stages.
It is a considerable evolution from the 17 year old who arrived in the United States on a tennis scholarship.
Yet the thread running through the story has remained remarkably consistent: ambition, persistence, and a willingness to keep working when the outcome is uncertain.
Only now, Kanury is applying those qualities to a different kind of achievement.
