An Exclusive Interview with Natalie A. Solomon

Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story? How did you get to where you are today?
My journey has been anything but linear. I’ve always been drawn to helping people heal, whether through public health initiatives, wellness coaching, or creating sacred spaces for resilience and self-care. But my personal story—surviving brain surgery, battling stage four endometriosis, and navigating years of chronic illness—forced me to rethink what it truly means to prioritize wellness.

For years, I pushed through pain, overworked myself, and neglected my own needs, believing that if I just kept going, everything would fall into place. But my body had other plans, and it wasn’t until I had no choice but to slow down that I truly learned the power of intentional self-care, resilience, and living with purpose.

That realization led me to create Meraki Life & Style, where I blend my public health expertise with holistic wellness strategies to help women reclaim their wellness, confidence, and purpose. My mission is to teach women to “Secure Their Oxygen Mask First”—not as a luxury, but as a necessity—so they can live authentically and unapologetically.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Success, for me, has come through resilience, self-advocacy, and a willingness to rewrite the narrative of what life “should” look like. Living with chronic illness, enduring multiple surgeries, and experiencing the emotional weight of infertility and life’s unexpected challenges has tested me in ways I never imagined.

One of the biggest challenges I faced was learning to trust my own voice—in both my personal and professional life. In the early years of my career, I often felt like I had to work twice as hard to prove myself, navigating both the systemic barriers of being a woman in public health and the personal battles of my own health journey.

I had to learn that my worth isn’t tied to how much I can produce, how much I push through, or how much I give to others at my own expense. Once I embraced that truth, I was able to step into my power, build a career and business rooted in purpose, and create impact in ways that feel deeply aligned with who I am.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in, and why should someone work with you over the competition?
In my chosen career of public health, I specialize in helping people reclaim their health overall, but my passion is in helping women—especially those navigating chronic health challenges, burnout, and emotional fatigue—reclaim their wellness, build resilience, and step into their power. My work bridges public health expertise with holistic wellness strategies, making my approach both evidence-based and deeply personal.

What sets me apart?

  • I’ve lived this work. I don’t just teach self-care—I’ve had to fight for it in my own life, and I know firsthand how hard it can be to prioritize yourself when the world expects you to do everything for everyone else.
  • I bring a unique blend of science and soul. With a background in public health, trauma-informed coaching, and leadership development, I combine practical, data-driven strategies with intuitive, mindful approaches that honor each woman’s individual journey.
  • I create safe, sacred spaces. Whether through 1:1 coaching, wellness retreats, or corporate wellness workshops, I provide environments where women can be fully seen, fully supported, and fully empowered to take control of their well-being.

If you’re looking for someone who understands both the personal and systemic barriers to wellness and can help you create sustainable, life-changing shifts, then I’m the right person for you.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Give yourself permission to take up space.

So many women shrink themselves—out of fear, out of obligation, out of conditioning that tells them they must be everything for everyone except themselves. But true success, the kind that is fulfilling and sustainable, comes when you step into your power, set boundaries, and define success on your own terms.

That means:

  • Prioritizing your wellness as a non-negotiable.
  • Saying no without guilt.
  • Creating a life that aligns with your values, not just expectations. Success isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing what truly matters in a way that honors your health, joy, and purpose.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
For me, success is freedom.

It’s the freedom to live life on my terms, to wake up and do work that feels aligned, to prioritize my well-being without guilt, and to create spaces for other women to do the same.

Success isn’t just about achievements or accolades—it’s about how I feel while I’m living my life. It’s about peace, impact, and the ability to pour into myself just as much as I pour into others.

Success, to me, means that I am thriving, not just surviving—and that I am helping other women do the same.

What’s next for you?
Right now, I’m focused on expanding the impact of Meraki Life & Style by launching new coaching programs, wellness retreats, and online courses designed to help women reclaim their self-care and resilience in practical, sustainable ways.

I am also open to speaking engagements and facilitating conference panels.

I’m also looking to further incorporate corporate wellness and leadership development into my platform, helping organizations integrate trauma-informed self-care and resilience strategies into their workplace culture.

And on a personal level? I’m finally giving myself more space for creativity, travel, and personal restoration—because if I’m teaching women to prioritize themselves, I have to lead by example.
