It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story? How did you get to where you are today?
Of course! My name is Dr. Linda R Jordon. I was born and raised on a farm in Virginia. I am a wife of 30+ years and we have a beautiful 30 year old daughter. My background is in sales operations, finance, human resources and international outsourcing for contact center operations. I worked in corporate America (pharmaceuticals) for 27.5 years doing a variety of leadership roles. I thought I was going to retire in 2.5 years and one day I received a call from my physician. On December 5, 2014 (30 days shy of my 52nd birthday), I was diagnosed with breast cancer. In less than 45 days, I was having surgery. I opted for a double mastectomy with breast reconstruction. Yes, an 11-hour procedure! After recovery, I realized I needed to do something so I started working on my PhD, investigated having a coaching business and began studying with the John Maxwell Team. In 2018, LRJ Coaching & Business Solutions, LLC was born. Today my business has expanded to high performance coaching, leadership training and speaking.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Correct, the journey wasn’t easy at all. So, the old statement of “if you build it will they come?” The answer is No. I thought after I set up my LLC and created a website, the phone would be ringing off the hook. Well that didn’t happen. I quickly realized I had to figure out my marketing strategy and make connections. This of course was during the time of CoVid so this really made it challenging for me. Everything was on Zoom.

The best piece of advice for readers is to never give up on yourself and stop allowing excuses to get in the way of fulfilling your dream. Remove fear and self-doubt so that you can illuminate your potential and live your best life.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success to me means that I have created a legacy for my daughter. When I leave this world, I want to make it a better place than when I found it. If I can make a difference in someone else’s life, then I am successful.

The next thing I would like to do is work on Book #2. My first book is called Unleash Your Inner CEO: A Country Girl’s Guide to Being Your Own Boss.
