A Sit Down With Rising Star “Yung Dolo“

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yung Dolo.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

I was born and raised on the west side of Detroit Michigan . My dad introduced me to music at a very early age . Music was a big and impactful part of my everyday household. As young as elementary school, I learned to count bars from engineers , artists , and producers always in my house at an in-home studio . I remember I wrote my first official song in elementary school around second grade . I was always involved in band, drumline, and talent shows every year . I also rapped for groups of people in the local neighborhoods in the city.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

I have learned over time anything worth having is going to take hard work and patience. One of the challenges I’ve come across is being my own worst critic. Music means a lot to me , so I’m always in competition with myself . Getting started was a challenge , just finding out how and who to connect with . It’s important to network with the right people . You have to keep people with good energy around you ; people with your best interest at heart. Time management is another challenge that I’ve ran into . I get really wrapped up in my music ; tunnel vision . It’s like a switch and once it’s on , it’s on . I’m getting better at managing everything but life happens so it’s far from perfected.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

As an artist and being only 22 years old , my authenticity, work ethic , and business mind sets me apart from the competition. I’m not an artist who can be put in a box with other artists that are trying to make it in the industry. I do all my own leg work and I invest in myself constantly. I am a visionary and understand that there is a process that requires patience and persistence. Me being young , I am like a sponge when it comes to learning the business side of the music world . Although I have great talent , I know that business if far more important. Being so observant of the business sets me apart .

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

If it’s in your heart to be successful at whatever your dream is then don’t ever stop working towards it . You need to know that obstacles will arise , but you have to stay the course . Time waits on nobody and resilience is key. You will only fail if you quit .

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

To me , success is accomplishing whatever I set out to do . If I have a goal big or small and I meet or surpass that goal, I am then successful in my eyes . As long as you accomplish your personal goal you are successful.

What’s next for you?

The work is never done! I have a lot more of my artistry to give . I will keep grinding until my vision comes to fruition.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
