The boom in the sustainable floral movement in Latin America is a phenomenon that has gained momentum in recent years. More and more people are becoming aware of the importance of protecting the environment and seeking more sustainable alternatives in all areas of their lives, including the floral industry.
The evolution and revolution of the sustainable floral industry has been a gradual but significant process in recent years. Previously, the floral industry was characterized by unsustainable practices, such as excessive use of pesticides, overexploitation of natural resources and lack of transparency in the supply chain.
On October 17 and 18, various renowned floral designers met in the cultural space of the municipality of Lo Barnechea, a prosperous commune in the capital of Chile. The prominent international florist Victor Flores organized the meeting “Floral Workshop, Sustainable Latin America” in which different floral designers from South American countries met. 35 designers attended the event, whose presentation was given by the famous Brazilian floral designer Lucia Milan.
At this event, very important topics were developed such as sustainable design techniques, talks on conservation of native flora and floral design with low-irrigation cut flowers.
The development of the sustainable floral movement in Latin America is essential to promote responsible agricultural and commercial practices that minimize the environmental and social impact of the floral industry. And the designer Víctor Flores is a true promoter of this sustainable initiative in the southern region of the American continent that has expanded to the entire world.
